Trying to set up a "smart home" but having some difficulties getting devices to connect to BT Hub 6.

The dual-band is turned off, just using 2. Devices will only connect to 2. Using the Smartlife app Tuya that most of the smart plugs etc use to connect to nomenclatura chimica network, I cannot get them to connect to the hub.

I did have some smart plugs connected that seems to be OK, but the new ones refuse to connect. However, they will connect to the TP-Link extender that is actually upstairs and away from the router, the plugs are downstairs. It's very confusing and somewhat frustrating. Used more that one Android mobile with the App to try to connect, the same error message comes up every time trying to connect to the hub.

Koogeek Home for Pc

I don't know if the Hub has recently updated itself or what is causing the connection refusals if anyone can shed any light on this issue that would be great. There is not a lot of information on the internet and the App support is basically non-existent.

Thanks in advance for any advice that may cure this problem. I would rather have all the smart devices actually connected to the hub rather than the extender which sometimes has to be rebooted to restore the connection. Go to Solution. Hi sorry not been on, what I did was get rid of all the TP-Link wifi extenders, bought a set of Tenda Nova extenders, easiest I have ever used and everything set up easily and working for a couple of weeks no problems at all.

By the way, the Nova uses ethernet for the first connection, the others all connect automatically then really quick. The Tenda app allows you to turn off the 5g for 30 minutes to set up plugs nest etc etc solved my problems anyway.

Traditional indoor games of tamil nadu you please direct me to the right extender from Tenda Nova as I could see different variants in amazon. Sign In Forum Help. Community structure survey - Your feedback wanted x. You can read more from here, Community structure survey.

Message 1 of Re: Smart Plug Connection.Hi, First off I am a complete N00b, so forgive me… I have built the gateway 0. I have… a tried putting it in connect fast flash mode and searched while it was already connected to the android app. Oh and yes, the gateway and the phone and the Koogeek P1 are all on the same wifi Any and all advice is welcome.

In either case, go ahead and set up the device fully in the app. Then, in the gateway UI, it should come up when you try to add new devices. Only the HomeKit version is supported right now. It would be interesting to know if someone has worked out reverse engineered? I rebuilt the gateway on a PI 3a as I had upset it by adding all the addons and running the poor beast out of memory, and I could work out how to remove the addons. Unfortunately our Mycroft skill is not currently working due to a bug.

That is what i was waiting to see LOL! I can connect to it using the koogeek Life android app and it works perfectly. Remove the device from your app, but not factory reset. Install the HomeKit add-on. Search for new devices in gateway UI. Sorry for the confusion… They should really have better naming conventions.

That does appear to be true.Socket plugs are only one of the many items that seem to be impacted by smart technology. But it suddenly went offline, and there seems to be no reason why it did. This post will discuss four possible causes for your smart plug being offline. Also, check out my list of 14 Smart Uses for Smart Plugs. Some reasons your smart plug went offline might involve a poor internet connection, insufficient bandwidth, or outdated software.

In most cases, you can restore connectivity to your smart plug by resetting it. Other troubleshooting involves relocating the smart plug or updating the unit. The reason your device has gone offline is probably due to an internet connection problem. It could be that the device used to control the plug is not receiving a signal or that the unit itself is not linked to a network.

You can quickly determine if the linked device is receiving a signal by checking for the network symbol in the top right corner. Once the device has been reset, you should reconnect it to a newer network to verify there is no problem with wireless interference. It is also possible that you are encountering a minor network bug.

If the network is functioning normally on other devices, but your smart plug remains offline, there are too many devices connected to the same network. If this is the case, restart the router and power off and on the smart plug. Following that, wait two to three minutes and then connect your smart plug to the router. Additionally, it would help if you considered expanding your home networks with a wireless extender to prevent this problem in the future.

Smart plugs, like any other Wi-Fi device, are susceptible to disconnection due to wireless interference. Interference manifests itself in many waysincluding sluggish response times and a continuous need to reconnect to the network. You may minimize physical interference by establishing a straight line of sight between your modem and smart plug. Interference is also a result of other wireless networks and devices, such as :. If you have your plug near any of the devices mentioned above, move it further away to a space with fewer electronics.

The most often encountered problem when connecting smart plugs to a network is with your phone or tablet. These devices include options that may restrict app functionality and cause your smart plug to become inactive. Changing the following settings will assist in reestablishing contact with your plug:. If none of the suggested solutions seem to work, your smart plug is likely broken or defective.

In that case, you should contact the manufacturer and explain your situation. If your smart plug still does not connect after following all of their recommendations, you should request a replacement if your warranty is still valid.

Apple could work around HomeKit No Response error to address the underlying software bugs that cause it to appear. Of course, it would be great if Apple could solve this error for all types of HomeKit devices without any need for the manufacturers to update their firmware.

Still, specific devices tend to end up in a No Response more so than others from my experiences. For example, Wi-Fi lamps only seem to end jury duty exemption in this mode more than bulbs that use a hub. Is it my Wi-Fi? Is it a power situation where the bulbs have gone to sleep?

Apple could fix this to enable HomeKit devices to automatically power cycle if they cannot communicate with HomeKit for a predetermined set of time. Another frustration I have with HomeKit is the amount of time it takes for the Home app to reconnect with my Home hubs when I am away from my home network. It can easily take 10 seconds from the time I launch the app when the Home app gives me the ability to control my devices.

Do you see these errors with your HomeKit environment? Is it particular devices that you see with more than others? What steps have you taken to resolve this? FTC: We use income earning auto affiliate links.

The best outdoor cameras for HomeKit. From there you can just as quickly create Automations which set up your devices to function autonomously or Scenes sets of commands that go to several devices simultaneously. Or you can control any of your devices directly using an app or even voice commands via Siri, the digital assistant built into Apple phones, tablets, computers, watches, and HomePod Mini smart speakers.

The first consideration for anyone interested in HomeKit is whether you are able and willing to use Apple devices: HomeKit is strictly Apple-only. And there remain a few categories of devices for which no great HomeKit option exists, most notably smart smoke alarms.

This point is especially important if you already own smart devices and hope to have them all work together devices that rely on wireless Zigbee and Z-Wave, for instance, may not be compatible. Like the other voice-controllable smart-home systems—mainly Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant—HomeKit allows you to link together into one system a wide variety of smart-home devices from different manufacturers.

Two areas where HomeKit stands out from the others: how easy HomeKit is to set up and control all your devices through a single app, and also how your security and privacy are protected. Most smart devices have a companion app that is required for setup and control.

On all current Apple devices, a preinstalled app called Home lets you control all of your smart devices. Once you set up a HomeKit device, it appears in Home and is controllable via the app or a Siri voice command. You can name or rename it, and add it to a Group—and all of that information updates instantly on all your devices. One caveat, though: For some devices, special features are sometimes exclusive to the companion app.

Those issues remain a hot topic with smart-home devices in general because they are internet-connected devices that by design track user movement and activities—sometimes including personal audio and video.

But for many people the modest sacrifice is worth the peace of mind. Many HomeKit-compatible devices also work with Google Assistant and Alexa—and can even be controlled using any of those platforms at the same time. So you might use a HomeKit Automation to have your thermostat lower the temperature and your smart lights shut off whenever you leave the house, and then use Alexa for other tasks, like dimming the lights when you want to watch TV.

We also have guides on Alexa-compatible devices and Google Assistant—compatible devicesfor anyone using those systems. A hub may also be necessary to act as a repeater in your home if you use smart devices that rely on Bluetooth wireless rather than on other wireless standards used in the smart home, such as Wi-Fi, Z-Wave, or Zigbee, among others. If HomeKit has an Achilles heel, it is Bluetooth wireless because it often suffers from range issues and therefore can sometimes cause delays or just fail outright.

The solution for some people will be to add extra hubs around their home to act as Bluetooth repeaters for their devices. Further, in our testing we have encountered consistent problems when trying to use the HomePod Mini with Bluetooth.

Whenever possible we recommend staying away from smart-home devices that rely on Bluetooth for communication. As a voice-control platform, Siri and HomeKit have been vastly improved over the years, and yet in many ways they still feel rudimentary compared with Alexa. And though HomeKit can be awesomely fast at times, if you mess up the naming of your devices, you can often find yourself making repeated requests without success—and then giving in and using the Home app instead.

A more specific functional issue with HomeKit is its notifications system, which is far less useful than it should be. The top-tier Apple TV is an excellent media streamer, but it also enables remote access and automations for HomeKit devices.

Deconz devices

If you want to stay in touch with your smart devices when you leave home, you need to add a HomeKit hub—either an Apple TVan iPador a HomePod Mini the original HomePod, which is discontinued, can work as well. We recommend the Apple TV over the other options because it does double duty as a great media streamer in addition to providing solid communication with both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth smart devices; we added a second unit to reach distant Bluetooth devices on another floor in our testing we found that the HomePod Mini, though cheaper and also useful, currently suffers from issues communicating with Bluetooth HomeKit devices.

Both the Apple TV 4K and the previous 4th generation model are excellent, if pricey, media streamers. But the 4K model has a dramatically faster processor and more built-in storage, plus Gigabit Ethernet for speedier networking. This bulb is brighter and cheaper than most smart bulbs.Ablue WP1 Plug.
